Census process will start soon

Census exercise will begin next month

===================

 According to a Reuters report, the Government of India plans to commence the long-pending Census exercise next month, with a completion timeline of 18 months. The Census is expected to be released by March 2026. The Registrar General of Census is currently awaiting final approval from the Prime Minister's Office . The last population Census was conducted in 2011, and the next was due in 2021 but was delayed due to COVID-19 and perceived government disinterest. This delay has attracted criticism from economists, data analysts, sociopolitical organizations, and researchers across various fields. Critics suggest that the postponement may have allowed the government to obscure the true extent of issues such as unemployment, poverty, inflation, and social imbalances, particularly state-specific data.

This time, technology will play a significant role in the Census process, with plans to use mobile apps and a dedicated Census portal for data collection and management. This will be the 8th Census since independence. The results will provide a clearer picture of the current state of the nation, beyond the narratives created by central and state governments. It is hoped that this Census will shed light on the social and economic disparities between urban and rural populations, helping India progress towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 and the world's third-largest economy by 2030🙏🏿👍🏿
