Can India take the lead to solve Ukraine war? πŸ€”

The Ukraine war, which began in February 2014 and further escalated in February 2022, continues unabated. The United Nations, with its undemocratic veto power held by Security Council members, has been unable to take meaningful action to resolve the crisis. The United States, which historically engages in conflicts worldwide except directly on its own soil, seems to benefit from such wars, especially through the sale of weapons. The U.S. appears more focused on weakening traditional adversaries like Russia, China, and certain Muslim-majority countries, rather than addressing the humanitarian toll on the affected civilian populations. As a result, American authorities have shown little interest in ending the Ukraine war, seeing it as a strategic financial and political burden on Russia, a traditional enemy.

China, too, benefits from the conflict, as it partially weakens Russia and increases Russia's dependence on China. The European Union, though affected by the war, is restrained from openly opposing the U.S. position.

In this complex geopolitical situation, India, a friend to the U.S., Russia, the EU, and Ukraine, can play a crucial role in mediating an amicable resolution to the conflict. Prime Minister Modi's visit may be seen as a significant first step towards this initiative. Modi has urged both Ukraine and Russia to come to the negotiating table without further delay, emphasizing the need for a peaceful solution. He stated that India is not neutral but firmly on the side of peace. As a land that embodies the teachings of Buddha and Gandhi, where there is no place for war, India is ready to contribute to peace efforts. India's approach is centered on the well-being of people, and it supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ™πŸΏ
