Sunny-Ranjith Shankar Jayasurya movie
Sunny-Ranjith Shankar Jayasurya movie
Sunny is a Jayasurya film written, scripted and directed by Ranjith Shankar
based on an NRI who is under quarantine in a 5 star hotel at Kochi,Kerla.
Sunny(Jayasurya), who arrived from the Gulf is facing different dramas of
life, almost determined to suicide during the quarantine. He got married his
childhood friend Nimmy, but both were sad as their first child died immediately
after birth. Now, she is pregnant ,but trying to get a divorce because Sunny was
in another affair in the Gulf. Sunny has a huge financial burden because his
friend cheated him. Sunny also has the frustration of wanting to become a music
director and failing. A sub inspector in charge of quarantine arranges
counseling for Sunny, who is addicted to alcohol and has a suicidal tendency.
Most of the characters make their presence only through the voice is the
specialty of the movie. It is also noteworthy that the face of the very positive
woman in the quarantine is not exposed. The person placing the food in front of
the room and the person taking the RTPCR are in protection suit.
It can be said
that the movie is a lonely performance by Jayasurya who expresses all kinds of
emotions alone. In the event of Covid restrictions that brought theaters stand
still, the team sunny could be proud to say that they produced a good film that
was completely economical and before audience through OTT platform Amazon.
Vijayaraghavan as SI Sadasivan Nair, Innocent as Dr. Erali, Sivada Nair as
Sunny's wife, Vijay Babu as Advocate Paul, Aju Varghese as Rajesh ,Siddik as
financier Jacob and Shritha Sivadas as Athidhi had done a good job through voice
only.
Cinematographer Madhu Neelakanthan has beautifully incorporated the small
surroundings of the quarantine space and the views of the lake from the hotel in
a way that does not create boredom. Editing by Shameer Mohammad and music by
Shankar Sharma sink with the tone of the movie. The film ends with Sunny being
Covid positive and her life also becomes positive.
The director and Innocent who
dubbed Dr.Erali can be proud of the fact that the death of the doctor who sees
life in a very positive light has upset even a seventh grader who saw the movie.
